ASA International (Rwanda) Plc Commemorates Kwibuka32 at Kigali Genocide Memorial

ASA International (Rwanda) Plc joined Rwandans in commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi through a solemn visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, reaffirming its commitment to the national values of remembrance, unity, reconciliation, and resilience under the theme “Remember, Unite, Renew.”
The commemoration was attended by the Group Chief Executive Officer of ASA International, Mr. Rob Keijsers; the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASA International (Rwanda) Plc, Mr. Gerald Mpyisi; and the Chief Executive Officer of ASA International (Rwanda) Plc, Mr. Christian Salifou, alongside members of the Board and staff representatives.

Paying tribute to victims
During the visit, participants took part in a guided memorial tour, a wreath-laying ceremony, a moment of reflection and lighting flame of hope, honoring the memory of more than one million victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

An educational session delivered by Mr. Serge Rwigamba on behalf of the Kigali Genocide Memorial emphasized the importance of continuous learning in preventing genocide ideology, which is rooted in division, dehumanization, and silence. He called for sustained efforts to promote unity and reject all forms of discrimination.

In his remarks, Mr. Christian Salifou paid tribute to the victims and expressed solidarity with survivors, reaffirming the company’s commitment to fostering a workplace built on respect, inclusion, integrity, and human dignity.

Mr. Gerald Mpyisi highlighted that Kwibuka is both a time for remembrance and a call to responsibility, noting that Rwanda’s progress over the past 32 years reflects a continuous journey of healing that must be safeguarded through unity and vigilance.
Rwanda’s story inspires a new standard of leadership
From a global perspective, Mr. Rob Keijsers commended Rwanda’s remarkable recovery and emphasized that the lessons of 1994 remain relevant worldwide. He underscored that ethical leadership must be grounded in respect, accountability, and the courage to stand against injustice.

The commemoration concluded with a renewed expression of solidarity with survivors.
