Munyabugingo becomes fifth Rwandan entrepreneur to secure Alibaba funding

The top 10 Business Heroes who exhibited exceptional prowess from various corners of the continent have been selected after successful pitches in the semi-finale of the Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) that took place in Kigali last week . Among these distinguished individuals was Albert Munyabugingo, a visionary entrepreneur hailing from Rwanda.

As the CEO and Co-Founder of Vuba Vuba Africa LTD, Munyabugingo showcased his impactful business during a riveting pitch session, vying for a coveted spot among the top 10 outstanding entrepreneurs. The culmination of this journey will see Munyabugingo and other accomplished entrepreneurs sharing a substantial grant of US$1.5 million at the Grand Finale scheduled for later this year.

During the ABH 2023 Semi-finale, held in Rwanda on the 1st and 2nd of September, the stage was set for 20 Business Heroes to present their innovative ventures and ideas.

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition is a benevolent initiative generously sponsored by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy. The primary goal is to provide support and inspiration to the upcoming generation of African entrepreneurs across diverse sectors. The ultimate aim is to foster a more sustainable and inclusive economy that paves the way for the continent’s future.

Munyabugingo’s achievement marks a significant milestone, making him the fifth Rwandan entrepreneur to secure Alibaba funding since 2019. This remarkable prize, established by Jack Ma, the visionary behind Alibaba Group and the Jack Ma Foundation, was conceived after his inaugural trip to Africa in 2017. The journey left him captivated by the vitality and entrepreneurial promise exhibited by the young individuals he encountered.
